Twist Shandy

It seems hard to believe but there was a time in my life when I hated the taste of beer. Like most children, I developed a liking for my dad’s when I was something like 8 years old and would try to steal sips of his Labbatt “Twist Shandy”. I’ll never forget the name despite the fact that it hasn’t been around for a very long time. I just found out that it was first introduced by Labatt in 1985 which is fitting as I first introduced that year too! I digress. Those initial sneaky gulps of the pale golden brew were delicious. When I hit my teens and could FINALLY sneak out and drink more than just a taste when heads were turned, I thought it tasted like shit. I didn’t know anything about different brands so all I tried was Labatt Blue or Molson Dry, beer that I still kind of think tastes like shit. I'd force it down anyway but I never truly enjoyed it like I do now. Thankfully, I have matured and my options expanded. I've found so many better beers and have grown to love and adore it again, just like when I was sneaking it from my old man.

All this to say, I would like to thank Twist Shandy, and my dad for introducing me to beer. I wish they would make it again so I could review it here instead of trying to remember what it tasted like when I was a child.
This is the only picture on the internet that I could find :(

Thank you

I remember when I was a lil kid I'd ask my parents for sips of beer all the time, it was so good! But after a few sips they'd say no more, and when I asked why, they'd say "because mummy and daddy will go to jail".

It's insane, that post coulda been written by me (except I'm a few years older)!
Just happened to re-discover the (approximate) taste of Twist Shandy with some gal pals a couple of booze-fueled weekends ago, where we needed something to pace ourselves for a couple of hours: ginger ale and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Also tried ginger beer and Budweiser, but in my humble opinion, the first recipe is better. Num num.

That's awesome!
I'm definitely going to try that. If you feel like submitting a review of your homemade Twist: tastybrews@gmail.com !

OK, so is this beer a ginger/beer mix? I only ask because Leinenkugel's makes a beer called 'Summer Shandy' that is beer and lemonade. Supposed to be good, but I'm holding out!
